With significant political implications, Nigeria's First Lady Aisha Buhari on Wednesday 3rd Aug. 2016 arrived in Washington DC on a week long visit. She is also billed to attend numbers of events in the State.
Her visit is of tremendous interest of Nigerians where Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose Alleged in June that Mrs.Buhari was involved in the infamous Halliburton scandal and that she is the "Aisha Buhari" mentioned in related court documents. Investigations shows that there is no "Aisha Buhari" mentioned in Halliburton scandal. However, one Aisha Buhari was mentioned in the case of former United State Congress man William Jefferson, who was convicted on corruption charges in 2009, and to whom "Aisha Buhari" wired the sum of 170kDollars. It is to that matter the governor mistakingly appears to allude.
On several occasions, Gov. Fayose asserted that Mrs.Buhari cannnot enter US, suggested she will be arrested, a bluff she has now called. Investigations by SaharaReporters and the New York Times have categorically stated that the Aisha Buhari mentioned in the court documents in reference is not PMB'S wife.
Governor Fayose should learn how to become an opposition party governor. He should follow the steps of some of the PDP governors like Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State and Governor S. Dickson of Beyalse State who are busy working and developing their States. Governor Fayose should do the needful for the people of Ekiti State instead of shouting unnecessary all the time.
