ROLE OF PARENTS AND OTHER STAKEHOLDERS

How are we promoting teens education if the government at all levels no longer fund public schools where only the downtrodden attend?

Those as privileged parents spend millions of naira sponsoring their children to very expensive private schools and therefore don't care about public schools.  We have seen situations where parents spend millions  of naira to celebrate the birthdays of their children in theae schools.

Parents buy gifts of flat screen television sets, laptop computers, l-pads, blackberries etc. That they give their children to distribute to their classmates on their birthdays thereby encouraging these kids to show off their  parents's wealth and status symbol.

What culture are we teaching the teens by this?  Definitely it's the culture of disrespect for money and hardwork, the culture of and therefore stakeholders. How do we promote educatrion.

Character and culture of teens when we flaunt our ill gotten wealth to our teens and create the impression of them that it is okay to steal from public purse?  How are we promoting cultures and character when corrupt people are hero worshipped and promoted instead of being punished and ostracized?

It has become our way of life to eulogize the corrupt and reward them with national honours and awards, we give them unfeltered access to the corridors of power and we make our teens believe its okay to steal and lie our way to the top.
