EKITI STATE HOUSE

Ekiti State House has again re-invited the former governor Dr Kayode Fayemi to explain the disappearance of N850m State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) fund.

It is on record that the minister of Solid Mineral was invited by the chamber but declined to attend. We would have expected that the minister for solid mineral would have supported the House to investigate and resolve any financial mismanagement recorded during his tenure as the helm of affair in the state.

One would have imagined that the federal government would have compelled the minister to proceed to his state to clear his name seeing that we are fighting corruption.

The question is simple; what happened to N850million of the SUBEB Fund? How was it dispensed, for what, over what period and who were the beneficiaries of it? Honourable Fayemi should not forget and if he has forgotten, let us remind him that he is accountable for his actions and inactions even after donkey years of leaving his last post.

One can understand that some would read political meanings to the invitation, but if the ex- governor has nothing to hide, why refusing to go and answer his people and clear his name? If the government at the centre has decided to shield corrupt officials in the government, how do we hold them accountable when they no longer work for us? We were promised a fight against corruption by this government during the campaign period.

This corruption fight ought to be holistic, transparent and non- selective if this Nation wants to move forward.

RPI..........Rethink, Rebirth, Rebuild.
