We read that some Ekiti Monarchs have been going round major markets in Ado-Ekiti in order to force down the prices of commodities.
We wish to correct the representation of those who carried that update. The truth is that the Iyaloja, who is also the president of the Market Woman Association in Ekiti State, Mrs Omowaye Oso, was reported to have led a task force round some market in the state capital to force down 'high prices of foodstuff'.
How the action of the Iyaloja and her team now translate to mean that Ekiti State Obas have been going round Ekiti to force down the price of commodities baffles us.
We commend the Iyaloja for taking the initiative and for refusing to collude with their members in the illegal price increase.
If they could be successful in their local areas may be they could put forward a joint effort to pressurise petroleum marketers and other major oil companies to reduce their fuel prices. Who knows they may help make the case for government to reduce the tax burden as well considering that some workers have not been paid upward of seven months.
We hope...............
